Inland Valley News and The Carson Compass are committed to accurate, fair, independent and responsible journalism. Our goal is to provide our communities with trustworthy reporting while maintaining high standards of journalistic integrity.
Ethics & Editorial Standards
We strive to:
Report accurately and fairly. We verify information and provide appropriate context before publication.
Maintain editorial independence. Advertising, sponsorships and business relationships do not determine our news coverage.
Clearly distinguish news from opinion and paid content. Commentary, sponsored content and advertisements will be identified when
appropriate.
Seek multiple perspectives. When reporting on disputes, allegations or controversial matters, we make reasonable efforts to give relevant
parties an opportunity to respond.
Minimize harm. We consider privacy, sensitivity and the public interest, particularly when reporting about minors, victims and vulnerable
individuals.
Avoid conflicts of interest. Staff and contributors should disclose relationships or interests that could reasonably affect—or appear to
affect—their reporting.
